Colorado Tournaments

 

Rey won first place in all the event he tried out for in Colorado State Championship, United States of American Taekwondo National Qualifier.

 

 

 

Rey won 1rst place for Poomse, 2nd Place for Sparring, 2nd Place for Weapons, and 3rd Place Breaking.

 

2nd Place for Sparring, he sparred with a 11 year old National Champion.  He missed by 3 points.

2nd Place for Weapons, the kid was 3rd Degree Kung Fu with amazing jumping skills.

3rd Place for Breaking, ahem, very unorganized situation.  It took 2 1/2 minutes to complete.

Since he had the highest points accumulated from Poomse, and Sparring he won the Grand Championship Belt.  This was the 2nd Series of Tournament in Colorado.  Last year he was the Grand Champion too, so this is his Repeat Grand Champ status.  His Colorado friends are already calling him 3peat Grand Champ.

 

 

School and Church are still the same. 

 

 

 

March 2013 was a day a mother, Grandmother in my case, will never forget.  Why?  Because this was a day when my Grandson got his first kiss.  Oh sure, he had plenty of kisses for older girls, but they were just that, from "older girls".

Girl:  Reyyy!! You're here!!  Reyyyyy

---got big squeeezed hugs from the older girl---

Rey: No idea what to do, but all starry eyed because this girl was hugging and kissing him.

Girl: Finished hugging and kissing Rey.

Rey: Dumbfounded by just being attacked by a beautiful older girl, runs to his Grandpa.

Rey: "Grandpa, a girl just kissed me!  Right here! (Points to his forehead)  Grandpa? You might not want to kiss right there just yet, she might have cooties.

Grandpa:  Laughs and hugs Grandson.

Disney Kids

Grandson Tale:

 

Stuck in traffic, smooth conversation.

GS: Grandpa I don't like this traffic it's horrible.

GP: Uh.

GS: Grandpa I want to move to California

GP: It's worser there.

GS: That's okay Grandpa, I want to live close to Disney.  

        I'm going to take my kids to Disney when I grow up.  I'll get a wife from Disney.

GP: O? And how do you plan to get a girlfriend there?

       -Grandson gets quiet-

GS: I'll just go to the hospital and get the babies there. There's a lot of babies there 
        that nobody wants.  I will take good care of them. 
        Grandpa, I'll be good father to them.

Exciting Times

School work is going great, he finished up another book and working on a complete curriculum for 4th Grade.  In church he is a stand out kid, and reads the scriptures off his phone.  His teacher said he is something else, always setting good examples for the other kids, he will also giving a speech in Primary, his theme is I AM A CHILD OF GOD.  Already he's talking about it.

Last week he spent the whole week in Vegas with the Super Stars of WTF Taekwondo (Olympic fighters).  Servet Tazegul, Steve Lopez, Jean Lopez, Frederik E. Olsen, Paige McPherson, Terrence Jennings, Aaron Cook and more!  It was US OPEN 2013 where only the best go to spar and of course it was nothing but Black Belts!  Someone was so impressed by Rey's performance they bought him a new sparring gear by Adidas.  He didn't get to fight, but he will be old enough next year.  We have a few people wanting him to join up with them, Isle of Man, someone in Canada, and Vasileio Koukouletsos (the Olympic trainer for Aaron Cook).  Yes, he was in Taekwondo Heaven and he soaked it all in.

He saw Rey and gave him a big hug, head rub, and high five, and told Rey "I remember you, bud!  How are you?"  Rey looked all bashful.

Yesterday or the day before, I don't remember but Rey is a Big Brother once again, he has another little sister.  Her name is Desirae.  Not sure about the spelling.

 



Black Belt

Baby is certified registered BLACK BELT.

He fought a great fights with 11+ year olds.  Grandson did all of his poomse perfect, he wanted to make sure he got everything right and perfection was a plus.  He was awesome and the best fight I have ever seen.  I mean 13 year old 3rd Dan he smacked 5 single kicks on him it was so loud all in about 2 seconds.  He was amazing.

Grandson Tale:

The other day he asked when will he be five feet tall, hubs told him it's up to his body. He stomped off.

Today, I was eager to get ready but he was in the shower over 1/2 hr. Just when I asked why it takes him so long to shower, hubs asked him "Why do you take so long taking a shower?!" He hollared "I am trying to rince my hair!" He doesn't have much of hair, have you seen it? We both laughed in the other room.

A moment later he swings the door open and comes out and asks "When am I getting a mustache???" I told him probably in another 8 years. He stomps off.

Last Friday, he wore cologne to his Black Belt Promotion. Is this normal he wants to be a grown up???

Grandson Tale:
Grandpa sneezes while Grandson is standing nearby. Before Grandson had a chance to say "Bless You", Grandpa sneezed again. Granpa couldn't hold his gum in and it came out like a bullet and hit Grandson. Grandson quick with a surprise on his face he yells in excitement "GRANDPA YOU'RE SNEEZING GUM!!!"

Silly Bug

Grandson Tale:

Grandson wanted a snack so Grandpa gave him a dollar and let him go into the store (since he's great with math he knows how to purchase his own items without getting ripped off). He comes out of the store as a proud man, and shows off his bargain, 30 Chocolate donuts for $1.00. Some of you know him, when he eats he shares it with his hair, yep now his face is cover with chocolate and parts of them are smeared into his hair. Why the hair? He's always done that since he was old enough to eat.

His parents have been living with my mom again for the last month.  I don't know if they are still there, before that they lived in Casper, Wyo.  They have not done anything to keep in contact with Rey and we noticed they deleted all of his photos in their facebook.  Yes, I check and see what they are doing every now and then.
